Welcome to SmarterCaTS

For the last 20 years I have been operating a technology consulting business. Most of my work has been focused on computers and networking. Starting in 2026, my focus has changed to home automation, security, and building “smart” systems for the home. The systems I am building are based on local control and keeping your data inside your own home. I am standardizing on systems that anyone can acquire and use.

This adventure is just starting. I am working with Ubiquiti for networking and cameras. The Open Home Foundation for “Home Assistant”, and Raspberry Pi for compute. Victron Energy is my supplier of choice for solar and AC backups.

I am incorporating whole-house UPS systems, EVs, and EV charging along with solar into my own home.

This is only the begining.
